Original Complaint against American Savings Life Insurance Company published at Scamity.com on 24-Jul-14 says, verbatim –

The first “rep” who came on the line asked for me by name. I said, “This is she,” and she said I had qualified to get a $100 gift card if I simply answered five survey questions. I asked how they got my name, such that I “qualified.” She said, “Oh, perhaps a mistake with one of our business partners…this happens sometimes…but no problem, we will offer you the gift card anyway so as not to inconvenience you.” My BS detector went up at this point but I was curious to see what would come next. | Next came a recording, a man’s voice in an American accent (the first voice was–i believe–an Indian accent) asking questions related to class action lawsuits, with the final question being “do you have a checking account.” This was mysecond clue that this was not legit. | Then a different “rep” comes on the line and is fairly long winded –also in heavily accented English–about how in 3 days I will get the card in the mail, “good at any major store,” so what is my address and what credit card do I use. I asked why they needed my credit card if this was a “gift.” She said something about how it was a fee that would cost me nothing in the end…my info was “safe and secure” in their system, etc… | At that point I said, “no, I’m not giving this kind of information to someone I don’t know.” Then she identified their company as “American Savings” in Phoenix, and gave me the zip code, and was again quite long-winded in her repetitious claims about “safe and secure,” “cost you nothing,” and so on. I said, sorry, not ok with this, and hung up. |
