Original Complaint against Americas Best Eyeglasses and Contacts published at Scamity.com on 29-Apr-14 says, verbatim –
On 1-28-2014 I went to Americas Best to get the glasses they advertised. They were advertised as “”Free exame and two pair of glasses for 69.99. | | After I had the exam I was told to pick out the frames I went to have a seat. I only wanted one pair of glasses. When I talked to the lady putting the sale together, she told me, To get the free exam I had to buy two pair. So the exam would cost me 45.00. | | I expected to pay a little more for the extras I wanted, transitions, progressions and scratch coating. She also added 25.00 for breakage. When she was done, my 69.99 dollar glasses were 450.00. That was for one pair. If I had gotten the two pair, even with the two pair discount, it was about 600.00. | | They don’t discuss the cost of anything before they start. I was brought in for the exam thinking it was free, but later found not only was I charged for everything but the prices were inflated. | | I went to Costco and got the same glasses for 220.00 |
