Original Complaint against Amped Wireless published at on 12-Nov-14 says, verbatim –

I purchased this product and had to have it installed near the roof of my house in order to have line of sight. After installation of the access point and receiver – and having a plug placed where I needed it to plug the units in, I paid roughly $500 in addition to the cost of the product. I did this according to the directions that came in the box with the product. The products never worked properly. I chatted online several times and was told I needed to call in at least twice. The units were reading each other but the internet was slow (under 2mbs on a 25 mbs plan). On the last tech support session I chatted online for over 7 hours and by the time they finished, the repeater did not work at all. Then they told me I needed to call in and have the unit replaced. | When I called in they told me I had to take the unit down, send it in, and wait for a new unit to come back. Since I can’t get unit down by myself that is a significant expense – hiring someone to come do that for me (twice with taking it down and then reinstalling the new unit). So, I asked for a refund as it had been several months and a significant expenditure. After the lost wages dealing with tech support (I work from home over the internet), and after the huge cellular bills because of the use of my cellular internet plan – I just wanted a refund. | They told me none of that was their problem and they couldn’t give me a refund because at this point, the 30 day refund period had lapsed. All they could do was send a new unit. | Then I requested that they send the new unit and then I would return the old one so I would only have to pay for one visit by the handy- man to switch out the units. I don’t think I was asking for much here – and I was definitely meeting them more than half way after the huge losses this whole ordeal has cost me. They refused. I am at the end of my rope. Terrible product that never worked. Terrible customer service. Please DO NOT buy this product! |
