I received an automated call informing me that my service was due for shutoff. They asked me to call the number back. When I did I was informed that I owed $478 today to avoid having my electricity shutoff. I explained that I was online and my account shows that it was in good standing. He said that he would have to contact tech services to see why that was incorrect but in the meantime I needed to pay my bill. I told him that I was hanging up and calling the 800 number that showed on the website connected to my account. That’s when I learned that it truly was a scam.
