Federal Govt.

Son received call on his cell. He has applied for several grants to help pay for college tuition. Caller stated he was awarded 9,000. Caller transferred and next person stated he could not rcv money because he was not 18, however my son informed them he would be 18 in a few weeks, so the lady (Amy Johnson ext115) stated she would walk him through process. She proceeded to tell him he needed to go to Wal-Mart and purchase a 200.00 gift card…then they would add the 9000 to that plus the 200 he spent. She made it clear that he was not to walk into Wal-Mart without calling her 1st so that she made sure he purchased correct card etc. Nor was he to tell anyone at all about the grant, so that noone else could get his free money. I called the numbers back on my ph. There was no vm…just a jingle of some sort, however…within a few minutes they called my ph back and hung up when I began questioning my sons phone call.
