MD Now Urgent Care Centers Review

I have been going to MDNow in Palm Beach Gardens for routine, but urgent complaints, e.g. sinusitis and insect bites, since this clinic opened. The front desk staff is always pleasant. The quality and mood of the clinical staff varies. In March I had a minor fender-bender, but my chest still hurt from the impact of the seat belt. My car insurance company told me I had 14 days to initiate treatment under PIP. Given time restrictions at work, I called MDNow and they said they accepted PIP. They seemed really excited to see me this time. | The doctor, a Family Practitioner, a D.O., saw me. He was nice enough, recommended OTC analgesics, which I had been using anyhow. He gave me a referral to a D.O. orthopedist I didn’t know, even though I said I had my own doctor. (I went to my doctor.) He also wrote me a referral for a C-spine MRI, in spite of the fact my complaint was about my sternum (a closed fracture). The MDNow doctor suggested I return to MDNow for Physical Therapy —

The MDNow doctor suggested I return to MDNow for Physical Therapy — which I did not do either. Their ortho imaging service pestered me for a week to make an appointment. I had to tell them to cease and desist. | MDNow billed my car insurance company, but I had a $1,000 PIP deductible, I did not know about. My PIP adjuster said I could send the balance of the bill to my regular health plan carrier. Today I received an email from the MDNow billing department, saying that my insurance would not pay because because they had a special contract deal with them as an urgent care center. In other words, I would have to pay the full amount. It is a good thing I did not use their imaging service, or physical therapy. My orthopedist used a simple X-ray to confirm the fracture. He also reconfirmed there is no physical therapy for that kind of injury, which I knew already. He was as puzzled as I was about the C-spine MRI referral. | This way, MDNow gets to make more money than they would have otherwise. I signed a form, but no one ever said insurance would not pay because of a contract deal with MDNow. I thought I would save money by not going to the local ER — especially since it was not an emergency. | MDNow is MD Never Again for me. There is another urgent care center close by. I will take my business down the street.
