Original Complaint against Sterck Kulik ONeill Accounting Group published at DirtyScam.com says, verbatim –
I met Charles and Team face to face to discuss my 1040 and two corporate filings. He quoted me each at ~1000. The bill I got for my personal return alone was $3800. Were talking close to 4x the verbally quoted cost. Now thats fine if it was a lot of work to do it,but I compiled 100% of the information needed to file(all in pdf zipped and emailed, sorted by tax doc type) with a full cover letter itemizing every thing they would need to know to prep my taxes. It doesnt get more plug and chug. Im EXTREMELY anal and knowledgeable about this stuff, the only reason I used an accountant was because I had two items I didnt know how to handle myself in turbotax- legal fees for buying a property that never closed, and a loan I made to a business that went bad, and I needed to claim the deduction. Sort of atypical for lay people but bread and butter for accountants.Long and short it took forever to get it done. ~3 months after initial submission of docs. They also took 2 conference calls to discuss strategy, with none of what Charles recommended actually going into the Tax return, so Im like WTF why did you bill me all the time on the phone if what you actually plugged in was no different or more tax savvy than the first draft?Came out exactly as my own dry run using turbotax plus/minus a couple hundred bucks. Lastly, and I should have caught it (shame on me b/c I am accountable) was that they forgot to deduct my home property tax and I submitted the damn thing without taking the deduction. Here goes another 1000 to amend it.Benchmarking H&R block could have done this for $300 right the first time. Any big sized firm would have come in under 1500 with cheaper analysts and lower partner review time. I was owed a HUGE return and basically they wanted a slice, and took me for it. What can you do once you sign that agreement.Nada. They have no conscience.I would never on gods green earth recommend this firm to anybody. Period. If you rated them highly, shop next years around. I guarantee you are getting ripped off and may need to do some self educating.Look at my profile I dont really write reviews often, I dont really have the time but this I though needed to be shared. If I saved one or two of you out there from making the mistake I might sleep better at night. If I could rate negative stars I would. If you do work with them sign only a fixed price contract. Otherwise nothing short of evil and untrustworthy.PS Id be glad to share a redacted version of my cover letter so you see the silver platter that was served up and still cost me a Fortune + email exchanges and an invoice that states 20+ hours of labor.Really? Ill stand by every word in this review and prove it.
